Winter Is Closing In

Admin · September 19, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Even though it is still September, it feels like winter is just around the corner. All is good as winter is our favorite season but we now have a short time window to get the high tunnel up. We picked up the tunnel yesterday from our freight forwarder’s Kenai terminal. A 1500 lb. 8′ pallet fortunately just fit in the cargo trailer. There were also a number of 50 to 100 lb. boxes. If you ship to Alaska, do yourself a favor and check out freight forwarders. We have described the process in several past posts.

We backed the trailer up to the high tunnel plot to store parts and tools while we build it.

Apparently there has been a run on high tunnels and accessories (at least from the manufacturer we used). We purchased a new dutch-door end wall design which is no longer available. They are also backed up on the tunnels. With all the additional building supply shortages, we probably would have waited until next year if this order had been unable to be filled. Our timing was lucky.
