We have been toying around with logo ideas. It would be nice to have something next year if we sell at the farmer’s market or just offer some promotional merchandise like t-shirts. After chasing down a variety of avenues, we stumbled into a simple and inexpensive approach that we thought we would pass along.

We wanted an easy to remember image. We stumbled into this old expired trademark from my great grandfather’s company back in the early 1900’s. They sold waterproof gear to the fishing and lumberjack community in the Pacific Northwest. We tweaked it to come up with the following new logos.

We had some sentimental interest in this particular trademark but frankly you could pick any trademark as a springboard for new ideas. There are some “common law” rights even with expired trademarks to be keep in mind.
We used a graphic designer from Sri Lanka who was a pleasure to work with and came in reasonably priced. If anyone is interested in using him, message us your contact information and we will pass it along. He provides the usual group of image files as well as the editable vector files.
Generating a new startup logo might be far simpler and less expensive than you might have imagined.
