Well moving is a necessary evil. Although the loaded car picture is not us, it sometimes feels that way. We have been going back and forth between a place in Anchorage and down in Homer. Now that we’re going into farming, we need to relocate full time to Homer.
One nice byproduct is the cargo trailer that we recently purchased. It’s a 5′ x 10′ size that has been a pleasure to use. It packs enough to make the Anchorage/Homer schlep worth it but is not too overwhelming to unload. It will eventually make a great secure storage shed for our more expensive equipment.
An upside to moving is that it makes it painfully (pun intended) just how out of shape you are. This may not be the case for everyone, but we are in our early 60’s and have been cubicle residents for a good portion of our lives. That was one of the attractions to farming. We are both looking forward to active days of work on our feet. All this moving will be a good prelude. Muscles we have not used in years are making their presence known.
Once we get settled, our first projects will be to fence about 1300 feet of the property and build a chicken coop. Then the fields need to get prepped. Since we are waiting to produce commercially next summer, we can get by with just prepping the greenhouse beds this year for the NRCS. We pick up the BCS and attachments in a few weeks. Who knows, all this moving might just feel like a walk in the park…
Green dreams!

Hello! This is kind of off topic but I need some help
from an established blog. Is it very hard to set up your own blog?
I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick.
I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to begin.
Do you have any tips or suggestions? Many thanks
I totally understand. It can be daunting in the beginning. I have worked on ASP websites using HTML, CSS, JavasSript, and C#. Frankly I find it far easier and quicker to use WordPress. I host the site with my InMotion and really like the Studio Press suite of WordPress themes. They use a base framework called Genesis and offer a good variety of different themes that leverage Genesis. This site was built using Monochrome Pro. I was able to get it up and running in a couple days. Hope this helps and good luck with your site!
