Don’t take our word. Check out the Chamber of Commerce site. So Homer is not only the halibut capital of the world but also a mini peony capital! With 25 peony farms in town, there is no shortage of flowers.
Since we are not trying to start production this year, we make time to hit the Spit on a daily basis with our dogs. July has been busy so far. Most stores have opened for business but require masks. The Spit is about 4.5 miles long. People ride horses along the beach, kite surf the coast, and bike/jog/walk the perimeter along the water. Shoppers and restaurant connoisseurs have plenty to explore on the main drag. If you get bored with all that, there are always halibut charters. You can even take a helicopter out to the glaciers!
A short ferry ride across the bay will land you in Halibut Cove. This is the home of the infamous Saltry Restaurant where some swear the best seafood in Alaska can be found.

Here are a few pictures from our daily dog walks.
